Ákwá ọ́má pronounced as (“Ah-kwa-or-mah”) means ‘beautiful clothing’ in Igbo, an indigenous language of an ethnic group concentrated in the south-eastern part of Nigeria.
Ákwá ọ́má, was launched by Nigerian Fashion Enthusiast Chibuzor Torti who aims to showcase modern yet timeless, bold yet elegant clothing that is inclusive to diverse body sizes. She effortlessly mixes traditional African prints with contemporary silhouettes, creating pieces that are both fashion-forward and culturally authentic.
Ákwá ọ́má works alongside talented weavers, dyers, and other skilled artisans to promote and uphold the excellence of their craft. With designs that reflect our history, we celebrate the art of traditional handiwork.
As the driving force behind Ákwá ọ́má, Chibuzor is committed to creating a fashion brand that not only celebrates African heritage but also champions sustainability and social impact. Through her work, she hopes to inspire others to embrace their own heritage and make conscious choices that benefit both people and the planet.
